The second Penn State Mont Alto Colloquy Series talk of the fall semester will be presented by Lecturer in Economics Mazhar Awan on Oct. 9. Titled “Is this Economy too Good to be True? What Economics has to Say About our Current State.” It is open to the public and free of charge.

Penn State Mont Alto will host its final Colloquy Series talk of the spring semester on April 10, when Associate Teaching Professor of Forest Technology Elizabeth Brantley will lead a tour of the Penn State Mont Alto Arboretum during a farewell reception in her honor.

Mont Alto Announces Fall 2018 Colloquy Series

Penn State Mont Alto will host the first of three Faculty & Staff Colloquy Series talks for fall 2018 on Sept. 12 from 12:20 p.m. to 1:10 p.m., in the Heritage Room of The Millstream Café. David Seitz, Penn State Mont Alto associate professor of communications, will present “World War I, Mass Death, and the Birth of the Modern U.S. Soldier: A Rhetorical History.” The event is open to the public and free of charge.

Game theory research is topic of Colloquy Series talk

Penn State Mont Alto will host a Colloquy Series talk from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. on Feb. 8 in the Heritage Room of The Millstream Café. Michael (Max) Bramel, Penn State Mont Alto professor in psychology, will present “Finding Our Way Out of Social Dilemmas.” The talk is free and open to the public.

History and Hysteria is Topic of Colloquy

Penn State Mont Alto will continue its spring Colloquy Series at 2 p.m. on April 13 when James Donovan, associate professor of history, will speak on the topic of “History and Hysteria” in the University Library. The program is open to the public and is free of charge. Coffee is provided and discussion is encouraged. The Colloquy Series presents current research by Mont Alto faculty in an informal environment at a level that is accessible to a general audience.

Colloquy Series talk: mathematics and social justice

Penn State Mont Alto will continue its spring Colloquy Series when Kira Hamman, instructor in mathematics, presents "Mathematics and Social Justice" at 2 p.m. March 16 in the University Library. Hamman will explore the link between math and science literacy and equality in the United States. The program is open to the public and is free of charge.
